We have an enormous amount of choice and access to information these days, and we spend considerable time researching, exploring and educating ourselves to make the best choices for our health and well-being.
I was a market researcher in a previous life, so am no stranger to ploughing through vast amount of data to find answers to a question at hand. But I also know it can be quite time consuming, overwhelming, if not down right paralysing, to find the best choice.
What is the best cream, best exercise etc.? Lots of considerations and factors play a role, but I think a little pragmatism may help cut through the vast options a bit faster. It may be a little too simplistic for some circumstances and situations, but nevertheless a good starting point, I feel.
Q: What is the best cream? A: The one you will use.
Q: What is the best exercise? A: The one you will do.
No point buying that super fancy cream, that you dare not use because it was so expensive, or you cannot stand the smell of, simply because it was said to be the best. Much better to buy one you will actually apply and use regularly.
Same goes for exercise. No point looking at a sport that requires an upfront expense you cannot afford or cannot access in your area or you dread the thought of. You may not start or if you start you may not stick with it, because it is too hard.
Joy is a great motivator. As humans we are far better at sticking with something we enjoy. 'The best' in any given category is something that you will use/do and enjoy. It will ensure you will return to it regularly and as a result you will start seeing the progress/change you were looking for.
So, find the movement you enjoy and will keep doing and you will have found the best for you. Or cream .... or green veg... or shoes...
