Our bodies are designed to move, our health depends on it.
We live in a fast paced, but increasingly sedentary world, which sees us move far less than our bodies were designed to. This is creating imbalances in our bodies, not just in our muscles and joints affecting our posture and putting pressure on our skeleton, but for our internal functions also; our metabolism, bone density, hormone levels, immune system, brain function, blood pressure and heart function to name a few.
Pilates will help you maintain a healthy and strong body and mind, have energy and strength, not only for work but also for play, and help your body remain supple and strong. Life Fit Pilates wants to help you move your body regularly, like a maintenance program, to counter the effects of our modern life. Regular Pilates will keep your muscles, joints and fascia (a connective tissue that surrounds and holds every organ, blood vessel, bone, nerve fibre and muscle in place) healthy and moving to their full potential.
Pilates will exercise your body holistically for best results, as opposed to solely targeting certain muscles or aesthetics alone. Pilates will maintain your Powerhouse (your core), as it is key to body and spine stability and function, helping create and maintain good posture, which in turn leads to better breathing, better muscle function and thus a stronger body.
Movement is innate to us, and should not be an optional activity or feel like a chore. The Pilates method focuses on movement which is enjoyable, while also allowing us to be present in the moment and connect with our bodies. A great side effect of movement is body transformation (inside and out).
